My little dude and I were lucky enough to catch an advanced screen of Disney’s “John Carter” last night and let me tell you,that was one heck of a movie. I’m not a big sci-fi, fantasy movie person but I decided to go in with an open mind and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not just sci-fi,it’s an adventure flick too with a bit of action and even some funny lines sprinkled through out.If you’re still on the fence about seeing this truly awesome movie, allow me to sway you with my top 8 reasons why you should go see “John Carter” when it opens this Friday 3/09/12.

1. Taylor Kitsch
He kills it as John Carter. Ofcourse it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome and ripped – hey,I’m a girl,I notice these things. But really, he is insanely good as the lead character.

2. Lynn Collins
You can’t have a hot male lead without a hot female lead and Lynn manages to hold her own as the princess.If Taylor is the reason chicks watch John Carter, then Lynn is the reason men should flock to the cinemas to check out the movie.

3. Mark Strong
Seriously, need I say more here?It’s Mark freakin’ Strong. Google him.

4. This ugly but incredibly adorable creature
I am not an animal person and yet even I found myself “ohhing” and “ahhing” each time it’s ugly mug hit the screen. You too will fall in love with it, just wait and see.

5. The movie is directed by Andrew Stanton
He is also one of the people who wrote the screen play.If you’re not familiar with his work, he is the genius behind classics like “Finding Nemo” and “Toy Story”. Seriously, this guy’s stuff is all about quality and John Carter is no exception.

6. The movie is visually stunning.
Remember when I said the director is all about quality – if you are a visual person who likes beautiful, breath-taking images,you’ll love this movie.

7. My little dude recommends this movie.
Listen, my son is the world’s number one most honest critic and even he looked at me as we walked out of the cinema and said “that was a great movie mommy”.

There are 3 shows that I have intense love/hate relationships with: Jeopardy, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader and Cash Cab.

Learn A Foreign Language With Language Learning Software

I am bilingual and so is my little dude. The choice to be bilingual was made for both of us by the schools we went to but if my son’s school wasn’t teaching him Spanish, I would have used language learning software to teach him myself. I feel like learning a foreign language gives you an advantage when it comes to employment. In the next few years I hope to learn American Sign Language and you can bet your last dollar I will be relying on language learning software to perfect it instead of paying tons of money in tuition.
